Looking for Thai food? Then you gotta try Khao San Road but make sure you come in groups of 4 are less.
Khao San Road
326 Adelaide St W
Toronto, ON M5V1R3
It’s not in a really busy area and is easily accessible by car or TTC. If you are near Eatons Centre and particularly around Scotia Bank Theatre, then you need to drop by.
Okay here is the deal, this place is ALWAYS packed. We had to wait in line even though we arrived before 6 pm (party of 2 on a Sunday long weekend). They do not take reservations; it even says that on their website so don’t go blaming service if you didn’t read before visiting. Now the second thing I need to warn you about is seating is mad tight. You gotta go in with very little baggage and the less you wear, the better lols. They have 2-3 long tables that can accommodate up to 8 people but is annoying to sit in. These long tables are seated with high chairs and if you aren’t sitting on the edge, you will be touching elbows with the neighbours (no joke). Another thing, if you whole party isn’t here – do not even bother waiting in line. Some people find that the main problem lies in its service. So I want to be clear with you, it’s like Lady Marmalade or Guu, you come for the food not for spacious seating. The wait is part of it.
Absolutely great Thai food. If you do not like spicy foods, please do not even order “mild” because I felt like I was on fire while drinking the soup lols. For some reason their fried foods weren’t available when we first arrived but the server we had – AMAZING/CUTE/POLITE was very good at informing us beforehand. The food here is a bit expensive but you are looking at spending $14+ for entrees and $7+ for appetizers. I mean it’s not mind-blogging but a little pricey for an Asian restaurant lols. Anyhow, the food comes out hot and spicy but will leave you satisfied. We ordered the Spicy Beef Salad, Tom Yum soup, Khao Soi, and also a Sangha beer.
I’m actually not a huge fan of Thai food but I recognize that this place is quite awesome lol.
